Question: I owe money on four credit cards. I have a good enough job, but my due dates are all over the place, and I can never keep track of all of them. I tried to do a spreadsheet, and to keep track on paper, but it’s too hard. If I can’t get this under control i will need to go bankrupt, and i don’t want to. help!
Answer: The easiest way to budget is to not budget. Just pay your bills as often as you get paid.
If your Visa payment is $400 per month, and you get paid every two weeks, send Visa $200 every two weeks, on payday. Do it with your internet banking, so you are not writing cheques and sending them in the mail. Here is a link to an article on how to budget by not budgeting.
If this doesn’t work, you may need to consider a consumer proposal or a bankruptcy in Toronto to deal with your debts.
